Deep Diving – Excitement & Exploration
There are 4 Deep Open Water training dives to complete to become a PADI Deep Diver.
Deep Diver training dive #1
Experience the feeling of Nitrogen Narcosis for the first time and learn how to safely plan and execute a dive, deeper than 18 metres.
Compare how colour changes at the surface and at depth and practice descents and slow controlled ascents before making a safety stop for 3 minutes
Deep Diver training dive #2
Execute a free descent and feel what it is like to free fall down to depth. At depth describe and record the changes that occur to three pressure sensitive items.
Your Dive instructor will ask you to navigate away and back to the reference line at depth.
Deep Diver training dive #3
Dive 3 of your Deep Diver specialty course will be focusing on Nitrogen Narcosis and the effects it may be having on you.
This involves comparing the time it takes to complete a task on the surface and again at depth, record any difference and discuss if there is a correlation between the time you took underwater and nitrogen narcosis.
Your Instructor will also be asking you to perform a simulated emergency decompression stop at 5 metres for 8 minutes whilst breathing from an emergency air source for at least one minute.
Deep Diver training dive #4
This is your final training dive of the course and time to explore and enjoy. You will plan and execute a deep dive plan that includes an underwater tour at depth whilst making observations for discussion afterwards.
Congratulations. You are now a PADI Deep Diver.
