Emergency First Response
Emergency First Response
The Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary care course is designed to build confidence and increase the willingness of lay rescuers when they are faced with a medical emergency.
It is also an important prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course if
you do not have a recognized first aid and CPR certificate.
You will learn simple steps to follow when faced with a medical emergency. You will have lots of time to practice applying the skills in a relaxed learning environment.
Included in the OTB Diving Emergency First Response Course:
- EFR Primary & Secondary care course
- EFR Primary & Secondary care manual & EFR Certification card
- All first aid equipment required
The course consists of two sections:
- Knowledge Development
- Skill practice and development
EFR Course Orientation & Knowledge Development
We start the Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary course with an Orientation.
We then review some knowledge development including learning about how to recognise life-threatening problems and prioritise emergency procedures.
We discuss protecting yourself against bloodborne pathogens using the AB-CABS system of care and monitoring a patients cycle of care.
Your Instructor will guide you through the knowledge development and show you the EFR Video that covers the knowledge development and introduce the primary and secondary care skills you need to master. Your
Instructor will integrate the knowledge development with the skill practice and will demonstrate each skill to you before allowing you an opportunity to try it yourself through role playing and practice.
